The opt-in box is the first step in building your push notification audience. It appears as a small prompt encouraging visitors to subscribe, allowing them to receive updates, promotions, and personalized notifications.
Why is this important? When users subscribe, you gain better segmentation options, meaning you can send notifications based on their behavior, location, or device type. Unlike non-subscribers, who can only see limited website-based messages, subscribers receive real-time push notifications directly on their devices.
This tutorial will guide you through customizing your opt-in box, ensuring it matches your brand and encourages more users to opt in.
Switch to web push notification mode. Ensure the platform is set to Web Push Notification Mode to access the opt-in box settings.
Navigate to the opt-in box settings. In the left sidebar, click Opt-in Box to open the customization panel. You’ll see the default opt-in box preview.
Switch between desktop & mobile previews. Click the screen/mobile icon at the top to toggle between desktop and mobile previews. Keep in mind that changes apply to both versions automatically.
Select an opt-in box theme. Choose from five themes that determine how and where the box appears:
- Minimal – A simple, small prompt.
- Box – A larger, more noticeable prompt.
- Pop-up – A modal-style pop-up.
- Bar – A banner at the top or bottom of the page.
- Native/One-Click – Uses the browser’s native permission request.
If you select None, a Widget icon will appear in the bottom right corner instead. Click here to learn how to customize it.
Set the opt-in trigger. Determine when the opt-in box appears by selecting a trigger:
- On Landing – Immediately when the user visits the homepage.
- On Scroll – After the user scrolls a certain percentage of the page.
- On Inactivity – After a set number of seconds without interaction.
- On Pageviews – After the user visits a specific number of pages.
Add a delay. Set how many seconds after the trigger activation the pop-up should appear.
Change the box appearance. Adjust the overlay opacity and background color to match your design.
Customize button appearance. Modify the Allow and Deny buttons by changing their background and text colors.
Edit the opt-in box content. Adjust the Title and Description to make the message more engaging and aligned with your brand.
💡 PRO TIP: The icon displayed is the default notification icon set when you connected your website. Click here to learn how to change it.
Save or reset changes. Click Save to apply your modifications. If needed, use the Reset button to restore the default design.
A well-optimized opt-in box can significantly increase your push notification subscribers, leading to better engagement and higher conversion rates. By customizing its appearance, timing, and messaging, you can create a seamless and effective opt-in experience for your users. Don’t forget to test different themes and triggers to find the setup that works best for your audience!
