WhatsApp list menus are like interactive menus you see in restaurants, but digital! They present users with neatly organized choices, each designed to trigger a specific response from your chatbot. This feature is perfect for creating structured and user-friendly interactions, such as navigating services, selecting products, or even answering FAQs. Let’s dive into how to set them up!

Remember that this function is only available for accounts using the Official API Connection.

Creating a list template

‎‎
Create a new List message template. Log into your account. Open the WhatsApp module and go to List message templates. Click on the + to start a new template.

Configure your template. Give it a name to identify it. Add a title that your users will see. In Menu description, write the initial message that will be sent with your menu. Add a footer too. Finally, write a text for the button that will open the list menu.

Add a new section.  Give this section a name. In Option name, write the first item of the menu. Optionally, add a description.

You can add up to five options per section, and up to then in the whole menu. Here we will add a second option. This time, let’s leave the description empty so can see the difference.

💡 PRO TIP: Both Option Names and descriptions must be below 20 characters long, including spaces. Otherwise, the list menu will not work.

You can also add a second section with its own title and list of options.

Save your template. When you are done configuring your options, click on Submit.

Adding the list to a chatbot item

Create a new bot item.
Go to the Chatbot section. Look for the account where you wish to integrate the list and click on Add item.

Edit your item. Give it a name, and set up a keyword to trigger the list menu. Configure the rest of the options at the top of the page as usual.

Add your list menu. On the Media section, select List Messages. Look for the list menu you created before. Finally, Submit to save changes.

Test your bot. Send the keyword to trigger the item that contains your menu. You will see something like this. Click on the button to open the list.

Once you open the list, you and your users will find something like these. Section titles are written on green, options are on white and descriptions on gray.

Click on an option. It will be sent as a quick reply. If the Option has a description, it will be sent too as part of the quick reply.

You can then set these same quick replies as  keywords for other items in your chatbot, turning your menu into the center of dynamic conversations.

Adding the list to the Autoresponder

You can also configure your list menu to be part of the Autoresponder, making it the first message users receive, no matter what keyword they type. Here’s how to set it up.

Create an Autoresponder. Open the Autoresponder section in your WhatsApp module. Select the WhatsApp account where you want this to be active.
Enable the Autoresponder. Set the Status to Enabled to activate the autoresponder.
Attach the List Menu. In the Media section, click on List Messages and select the list menu you created earlier.
Set Activation Timing. Define how many minutes after the user’s last message the autoresponder should trigger again.
Submit.  Save your changes, and your autoresponder is ready to go! Now, every user will be greeted with your list menu immediately upon messaging your chatbot.
