Learn how to broadcast messages to WhatsApp using BotCommerce:

1. Create a Broadcast Campaign #

  1. Go to the WhatsApp menu and select “Broadcasting”.
  2. Select the bot account for which the broadcast campaign is to be created.
  3. Click the “Create” button to launch the Visual Flow Builder.
  4. Name the campaign and choose one of the two options:
    • 24 hours: Targets subscribers active in the last 24 hours.
    • Any time: Targets all subscribers but requires a message template.

2. Configure the Broadcast #

  1. Include or exclude subscribers using labels.
  2. Double-click “Start Bot Flow” and name the bot flow.
  3. Add the messages you want to broadcast. You can include interactive elements with buttons.
  4. Test the campaign by entering one or more characters to select a subscriber and sending a test message.
  5. Save the campaign to broadcast the messages immediately.

3. Create a Message Template #

  1. Go to the bot manager from WhatsApp and select the bot account.
  2. Click on “Message Template” in the message template settings.
  3. Create a new template:
    • Name the template.
    • Select the locale.
    • Choose the template category (transactional, marketing, OTP).
    • Select the header type (text, image, etc.).
    • Write the message body.
    • Add call-to-action or quick reply buttons if needed.
  4. Save the template and ensure it is approved by WhatsApp.

4. Use the Message Template for Broadcasting #

  1. Go back to the broadcasting section and select the bot account.
  2. Create a new campaign:
    • Name the campaign.
    • Select the “Any time” option.
    • Select the message template created.

    • Include or exclude subscribers using labels.
    • Define the sending time (immediate or scheduled).
  1. Name the bot flow and save the campaign.

5. Use Variables in Templates #

  1. Create variables under the template variables settings.

  2. Create a new template using the variables created.
  3. In the message body, use the variables to customize messages for different campaigns.
  4. Save the template and use it in the broadcast campaign by selecting and defining the variable values.

6. Send Templates with Images in Live Chat #

  1. Go to the live chat of WhatsApp and select the bot account.
  2. Select the subscriber to whom you want to send the message.
  3. Click “Send Flow”, select the message template, and include the image for the header.
